New York Palace

NEW YORK, NEW YORK

The New York Palace is a keystone property anchoring the center of midtown Manhattan. Champalimaud Design transformed the hotel's public spaces, integrating the historic Villard Houses with the hotel's 1981 tower and adding inviting new restaurants, bars, and lounges to appeal to neighborhood patrons and guests from around the world. Our serenely contemporary renovation melds the historic architecture with the modern tower and enhances the drama of the elegant entrance on Madison Avenue.

The lobby spaces are unified by a beautiful, new stone floor with an Italian Renaissance motif.  A Diego Rivera-inspired mural wraps around the second floor crown molding, evoking the Art Deco influences of the Rockefeller Center neighborhood and the industrial age of the Villard Mansions.  A chandelier of hand-blown glass spheres draws the guest's eye to the gold leaf ceiling above and the historic marble fireplace below.

Guests leave the hurried frenzy of midtown Manhattan at the entrance, and step into a luxurious refuge.

The new Lobby Lounge offers a relaxing respite from city streets and an all-day venue for hotel guests. Hand-wrought bronze sconces and rich Macassar ebony walls create a warm atmosphere that easily transitions from morning coffee through afternoon tea to cocktail hour and beyond. Nearby, under the granny entry staircase, the new Troubles Trust is a "downtown" bar with sexy burgundy lacquer walls inset with traditional embossed leather panels.  With a repositioned reception area, guests leave the hurried frenzy of midtown Manhattan at the entrance, and step into a luxurious refuge.
