Raffles Hotel

SINGAPORE

A historic landmark in Singapore, the Raffles Hotel has been crowned as one of the greatest hotels in the world. The envisioned interiors are a delicate layering of modernity, authenticity and refined beauty with a meticulous attention to detail–the past, through a present lens. Champalimaud Design meticulously updated the iconic hotel, not only refreshing the design direction of the property, but also drawing out the essence of the building through honest creative decisions and notable details. While maintaining its sense of place and the ambience the property is known for, the spirit of Raffles is awakened through bold and effectual design. Incorporating local influences throughout and remaining true to its heritage, Champalimaud thoughtfully layers a memory of old Singapore with a contemporary and artful approach.

The past, through a present lens.

As a national monument, special attention was paid to the preservation of the original colonial architecture throughout the renovation. All of the public areas are re-planned to increase social engagement and create an ease of flow between spaces. With a sensibility that is much more contemporary than its previous design iterations, there’s an emphasis on maximizing scale through the careful curation of custom furniture in sumptuous shapes, ornate screens, locally sourced heritage antiques, and impactful lighting.
