The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

CAYMAN ISLANDS

Blending modern coastal elegance with mid-century British Caribbean style, our renovation of the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman reflects an updated color palette weaving in lively shades of green inspired by the islands’ botanical wonders, deep blues pulled from Cayman’s night sky, the whites and beiges of the island’s smooth sands, and the sparkling shades of turquoise found in the Caribbean Sea.

The design is welcoming but refined.

Textured inlays and crisp borders accentuate the Neoclassical architecture, leading guests through their journey. Like the Caymanian people, the design is welcoming but refined, with modern British Caribbean influences. Throughout the resort are echoes of Cayman’s 19th century heritage in which the craft of making rope from the dried leaves of the Silver Thatch Palm was the backbone of the economy. Evocations of intricately woven thatch patterns appear throughout the hotel in unexpected places, a reminder of the resilient Caymanian spirit that is alive and well to this day.

Like a figurative beach bonfire, the warmth and colorful spirit draws guests in.

Traditional elegance juxtaposed with bold, modern expressions.

Grand Cayman has grown a vibrant culture of visual arts which continues to thrive. The artistic community includes generational Caymanians, classically trained British painters and creators from the more than 130 nationalities that make up Cayman’s society today. This creative culture has been celebrated in The Ritz-Carlton since its opening day, when the hotel established what is now the country’s largest art gallery. The resort’s rejuvenated design incorporates art from both established and emerging local artists, underscoring the traditional elegance of the architecture and juxtaposing it with bold, modern expressions.
